Laura Sinclair is an active performer, Suzuki teacher, speaker, and coach.

She is passionate about helping other teachers develop smart business practices so they can enjoy teaching to its fullest. Laura has presented talks around the country in conferences, lecture halls, and virtual spaces for higher education institutions like the New England Conservatory of Music, Lynn Conservatory of Music, the American String Teachers Association, the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and convenings across the country for Jazz Roads for South Arts. Laura also does this through her bespoke coaching program “Stress-Free Studio”.

She can be found on the concert stage with ensembles like the Naples Philharmonic, and Atlantic Classical Orchestra, in the pit with Hamilton and other National Broadway tours, and at private events with Elan Artists.

A 20-year veteran studio owner, Laura is a former Title I public school strings director. She is presently the music curriculum director for the Volta Music Foundation, providing educational training and support to their teachers and developing a diverse repertoire sequence.

Laura firmly believes that music can be a powerful tool for breaking down barriers and building good citizens of the world through the next generation. During this session, we will explore aspects of studio design that embrace the needs of an artist’s lifestyle. Laura will share insights and tips on how to create a functional and inspiring teaching studio that will enhance your students’ learning experience without burning you out.

Educators will explore how to create a teaching practice that supports their creative endeavors. We will discuss common pitfalls of studio development, studio structure, policies, and how to build community. Participants will receive resources and action steps they can implement immediately to increase their income, enjoy their teaching, and still have time to practice, allowing them to share their gifts with the world without burnout.

Because teaching is a universal expectation of musicians, these presentations apply to instrumentalists, singers, and composers.
